Local equipment hire, run by someone who lives here.

Timech Hire is a small, owner-run equipment hire business based in Glen Forrest, in the Perth Hills. We hire out a tight, well-kept fleet — a mini excavator, a commercial zero-turn mower, and an inverter generator — and we deliver and collect them free across the Hills and foothills, from Glen Forrest through to Midland.

There's no yard to drive to, no counter to queue at, and no call centre. You book the dates you need online, we turn up with the machine fuelled and ready, walk you through it, and come back to collect it when you're done.

Who you're dealing with

I've lived in the Hills for five years, and hiring gear up here has always been harder than it should be. If you own property on a Hills block, the jobs don't wait — a firebreak, a collapsing driveway, acreage that's got away from you, a week without power. But the machine you need is usually down in the flats somewhere, on a yard's opening hours, with a trailer you have to tow home yourself.

The trades working up here have the opposite problem: they know exactly what they need, they need it on a specific day, and they can't afford to lose half a morning collecting it.

So Timech Hire is built around both. Everything is delivered and collected free, everything arrives fuelled and ready to work, and the whole thing is booked online in a couple of minutes rather than over the phone. You're dealing with the person who owns the gear, maintains it, and drops it off — not a counter.

What "dry hire" means

Dry hire means you operate the equipment yourself — we don't supply an operator. That makes the handover the most important part of the job, and we treat it that way. At delivery we check your ID, photograph the machine's condition, take a fuel and hour reading, and walk you through the controls and safety points before you sign off. You get an email summary with the photos, so both of us have a clear record from the start.

It means you're never guessing how something works, and there's never an argument later about what condition the gear was in.

What people hire from us

Three machines, chosen because they cover most of what a Hills property or a local trade actually needs.

Hitachi ZX17u-5 excavator — for the jobs a shovel can't finish. Digging trenches for drainage, water, or power. Footings and pads for a shed, deck, or tank. Clearing scrub and roots ahead of fire season. Cutting in or repairing a washed-out driveway. Levelling a spot that's never sat right. Prepping for a retaining wall. It's a 1.7-tonne machine, so it works on residential blocks and close to fences and buildings without tearing the place up getting there.

Gravely Pro-Turn 148 mower — for ground that's got away from you. Acreage that needs knocking down before summer. Firebreaks. A block you've left a season too long. Grounds you maintain commercially and need to get through quickly. It's a commercial zero-turn, so it turns in its own length around trees, tanks, and fence lines, and covers a paddock far faster than a ride-on built for a suburban lawn.

Honda EU70is generator — for when there's no power, or never was. Storm outages that run for days. Keeping the fridge, freezer, lights, and pumps going until the network's back. Running tools on a build or a shed site with nothing connected yet. Events, markets, and gatherings out on a block. It's an inverter unit, so it's quiet enough for a residential street and produces clean power for sensitive electronics.

Not sure a machine suits your job or your site? Ask before you book — we'd rather talk it through than have the wrong gear turn up.

The fleet grows as demand tells us what's worth adding. If there's something you'd hire from us regularly, tell us.

How hiring works

Four steps, start to finish:

  1. Pick your dates. Live availability on each item's page — a weekend, a work week, or a custom stretch of 7 days or more.
  2. Book and pay online. Your invoice, hire schedule, and safety information land in your inbox straight away.
  3. We deliver and hand over. Fuelled, on our trailer, with the safety walkthrough.
  4. We collect. Leave the gear as it is — we handle the wash-down and the refuel.

Plans change, and the system expects it: reschedule, extend, or cancel from your account, and claim rained-out days back on longer hires.
